This home was purchased in 1998 by your hosts, Tommy Crane, one of the top Realtors in the City, and Kevin Bourgeois, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Having bought and renovated many historic homes in the City, Tommy could not resist when he saw most of the original architectural details still intact. These included all cypress woodwork, marble and cypress wood carved mantels, coved ceilings, 9 ft. pocket doors, brass hardware, magnificent stairways, pine flooring and more. Phase One of the renovation included all new wiring, plumbing, sheetrock, and baths to bring this home up to today's codes. All of the cypress millwork was stripped by hand and clear sealed for protection. Phase Two included the same as the previous with the addition of converting the home from a double to a single residence.
All guest suites offer private baths, (most with jacuzzi tubs) queen sized beds, color TV's and telephone with voicemail. All rooms are also provided with a writing desk and a connection for computer modems. A pop-up trundle bed or day bed are available in most rooms
The atmosphere of New Orleans is reflected in the works of prominent Southern artists and is displayed on walls accented with ancient cypress moldings. Guests especially enjoy the monthly gallery openings where they meet many local viewers and the featured artist. Of course, there is always the opportunity to purchase artworks and take a personal piece of our city back home with you.
The location is a real plus. Mid City is convenient to all areas of the City and to all major interstate systems. We are one block off the corner of historic Canal St. and Carrollton Ave. Within five minutes from our home you may visit: City Park, New Orleans Museum of Art, historic Bayou St. John, Pitot House and famous, historic New Orleans cemeteries. Ten minutes away are the historic French Quarter, Central Business District, Convention Center, Aquarium of the Americas, Entergy Imax Theatre, Algiers Fe |
